Well first of all the protagonist is the main character and most of the time is the hero. The antagonist is the character that has a conflict with the protagonist. The antagonist doesn't have to be a person either. It could be an obstacle or a force of nature. The protagonist in The Amazing Spiderman was obviously Peter. He is the protagonist because he is the one trying to help everyone and he has the powers to do it. He also saves the whole city from a giant lizard thing. The giant lizard is actually our antagonist. He was Dr. Conners, Peter's dad's old friend, and he was trying to grow himself a new arm with a liquid that he injected into a three legged rat, and it worked on the rat so he tried it on himself. Something went wrong with the liquid when he injected himself with it and turned him into a giant lizard. He is the antagonist because he destroyed everything and tried to get everyone to become what he was. Peter had to stop him of course, so he sent Gwen to the lab to make an antidote to the liquid to cure Dr. Conners so he would stop what he was doing, and he did end up stopping Dr. Conners.
